CARE
So here's the confusing part. I say confusing b/c many of you will have friends or coworkers tell you that you should listen to THEM and not me, or you'll look on other websites and see insanely varying instructions. I've seen, more than a few times, website instructions say that any anti-bacterial ointment will infect the tattoo, cause bacteria to grow or will "suck" the ink out! Other sites will tell you to ONLY use lotion on your fresh tattoo. A tattoo is a wound like an abrasion. So who puts lotion on a wound???? One site I saw said "only use lotion like A&D Ointment". Ugh!
Its all about using your common sense. I don't take medical instruction from my plumber, and watching my electrician for 30 minutes does not make me an authority on all things electrical.
While my instructions are not the only correct method, if followed like I say, you'll be fine. My care instructions mimic care instructions from 90% of the world's top tattoo artists. And remember, if you have any questions, dont ask your friends, coworkers, or homeless people and don't google anyything.
- CALL or EMAIL ME -
------If you have a standard bandage held on with tape-----
* Take bandage off in 2 - 4 hours or whenever convenient after that time.
*Wash thoroughly with soap and water and pat dry gently
*Apply a HAIR THIN layer of any kind of first aid antibacterial ointment (A&D, Bacitracin, Triple Antibiotic, etc) just enough to make it shiny. (Aquaphor has no medicinal value but its very popular in the tattoo industry so if you're familiar with it, you can use that too.)
*Check tattoo every 4 or 5 hours and if it's dry & you need a little ointment, put some on.
*Use ointment for about 4-5 days then switch to any hand or body lotion (unscented preferred).
*Apply lotion on tattoo 4-6 times a day for another 10 days. Feel free to apply lotion as thick as you want. Lotion soaks in. Ointment does not.
*Shower as usual. DO NOT pick or scratch tattoo
------If you have medical grade adhesive bandage------
*Leave bandage of for however long I may tell you at the time of tattoo
*leave it alone. Shower as usual. Pat dry. Don't pick at it.
*This bandage can stay on for 3-7 days. It's breathable.
*if it starts peeling away and/or leaking after 3 or 4 days, you can peel it off.
*Peel it off NOT like a sticker, but parallel to the body as it disconnects from your skin.
*Wash tattoo with soap and water.
*Use hand lotion on tattoo 4 -6 times daily for 5-10 days.
AGAIN, if you have questions about anything at all, email or call me.
